Dave Uberman

Dave is an experienced litigator who has represented national corporate clients, the Commonwealth of Virginia, and state institutions at every stage of trial and appellate litigation.  Dave worked at a small boutique firm as a corporate defense attorney followed by over 8 years as an Assistant Attorney General.  During that time, he briefed and argued more than one hundred appeals, primarily before the Court of Appeals of Virginia, the Virginia Supreme Court and the United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit.

Dave believes that empathy and integrity are two valuable traits for any lawyer.  More than simply treating others how one would like to be treated, an empathetic advocate can subjectively examine a case from the perspectives of the client, adverse party, juror and judge.  He relies on his more than 15 years of dedicated experience and professionalism to ensure the best possible outcome for his clients.

A lawyer's job is to predict results and provide clients with likely outcomes under the law and the facts of each case.  Oftentimes that advice is to avoid litigation because the parties can fashion a more favorable resolution between themselves without the loss of control that comes with the intervention of the courts.  Of course, there are many times when litigation is unavoidable, even preferred, and Dave is an experienced and capable trial lawyer.  No issue is too big or too small.

Dave has extensive experience in criminal matters - including white-collar offenses - and has handled more than 100 habeas-corpus proceedings in state and federal courts.

When not at work, Dave enjoys spending time with his wife and three children, playing the piano and producing music, supporting UVA sports, reading comic books and swimming.  He believes strongly in giving back to his community and is a member of the Cathedral of the Sacred Heart and a volunteer with the Rule of Law Project and the Richmond SPCA.
